Entrepreneurial businessmen Vijay & Bhikhu Patel, today announce the acquisition of a majority shareholding in Driven Worldwide, the privately-owned global provider of bespoke chauffeur drive services. This includes Driven Worldwide Limited, Driven Worldwide Inc, Driven Worldwide HK and Driven A to B.
Driven will operate as a standalone business with no change to its day to day running, management structure or accounting processes but over time, synergies will be developed with other businesses owned by the Patel brothers, providing Driven Worldwide with the opportunity for further international growth and product development.
The Patel brothers are best known for their activities within the healthcare market, the development of Waymade PLC and the recent sale of their Amdipharm operations.
Commenting on the transaction, Vijay Patel said:
“My brother Bhikhu and I believe that our acquisition of Driven is a great opportunity for both parties. It fits with our strategy to diversify our operations and to invest in successful businesses; enabling them to flourish and grow further for the benefit of their customers, suppliers and employees. The philosophy and entrepreneurial style of Driven fits well with our own approach to business and is something which we are keen to maintain. We look forward to working with the management and employees of Driven”
Driven was founded in 2000 by Darren Tilley and has grown strongly through the development of high quality service provision. Initially Driven focused primarily on providing chauffeur drive services for financial roadshows but now incorporates a wider portfolio. Today, Driven generates annual revenues of over £10 million and has operations based in the UK, New York and Hong Kong, delivering services in over 100 countries.
Over the past two years Darren has empowered the management team to run the business. This culminated in the promotion of Mike Bell to the position of Managing Director in October 2012 and now Darren has decided it is the right time to fulfill a long standing ambition of studying medicine.
On leaving the business Darren Tilley said:
“With the help of my management team, Driven Worldwide has become a successful global business which I am sure will continue to go from strength to strength. With the extensive company knowledge built up within this team and strong client relationships, coupled with the investment of the Patel family, I am leaving the company in the best possible hands. I wish the team every success for the future”
Alongside Mike, Stephen Morris, IT Director for Driven, will remain active in the operations and strategic development of the business.
Mike Bell said:
“This private investment in Driven provides a great opportunity for everyone. Our strength lies in the strong client base we have built up over the years as a result of our commitment to the highest levels of customer service; which remains fundamental to our business. The business knowledge and entrepreneurial flair which the new shareholders bring are highly complementary to our own and I look forward to further developing our current markets as well as opening new ones”
All employees, staff and affiliates of both Driven Worldwide and Waymade have been informed of the acquisition. Whilst everything remains “business as usual” with no changes to operations, there is certainly genuine excitement about the potential this partnership holds for the future.
